Bespoke Model Baseboards
for Railways, Scalextric and other “tabletop” hobbies
Bespoke Model Baseboard Manufacturing
With a background in designing and manufacturing hotel furniture, we understand how to manufacture products to a very high standard that last the test of time and remain within a strict budget. Our expertise in precision engineering and high-quality craftsmanship ensures that our model baseboards are both durable and practical, meeting the needs of hobbyists and professionals alike.
High-Quality Materials
We manufacture baseboards predominantly from 9mm African Marine Ply, which is lighter and easier to pin than Birch Ply. This makes it a preferred choice for many model railway enthusiasts due to its durability and ease of use. However, we also offer other material options, including MDF, Birch Ply, or Eucalyptus Ply, should you have specific preferences or requirements. Additionally, Sundeala toppers can be added upon request, providing a smooth and high-quality surface ideal for railway layouts.
Robust and Reliable Construction
The 75x20mm prepared (finished) timber frames are both glued and screwed, making them incredibly strong. This method of construction ensures that our baseboards are built to withstand years of use without compromising on stability. The combination of strong timber framing and precision engineering guarantees a baseboard that will not warp or degrade over time.

Innovative Leg Systems
Our leg systems are fabricated using an angled bracket with an integral nut for easy assembly. The leg itself has a 31.7mm diameter with a 1.5mm wall for rigidity and strength. This robust construction ensures maximum support for your model railway or other creative projects. The steel legs are designed for easy installation and removal, making the setup process quick and hassle-free.
Easy Assembly and Integration
Our baseboards are supplied fully assembled, glued, and screwed, ensuring they are structurally sound upon delivery. All you will need to do is locate the steel legs and tighten the securing bolt. This design makes it simple for users to set up their baseboards with minimal effort. Securing multiple baseboards together is also a straightforward process, as our integrated steel leg system allows for seamless connections between units.
Customisation Options
We understand that every project is unique, which is why we offer a range of customisation options. Whether you need a specific size, additional support structures, or unique finishes, we can tailor our baseboards to meet your exact specifications. Our team is always happy to discuss your requirements and provide expert advice on the best solutions for your needs.

Common Issues with Building Your Own Baseboards
While many enthusiasts attempt to build their own baseboards, there are several common challenges they may encounter:
- Warping & Stability Issues: Using lower-quality materials or improper construction techniques can lead to warping over time, compromising the stability of the layout.
- Time-Consuming Process: Designing, cutting, and assembling a baseboard from scratch requires significant time and effort.
- Structural Weakness: Without precise measurements and high-quality construction, DIY baseboards can lack the necessary strength and rigidity.
- Difficulty in Assembly: Ensuring that multiple baseboards fit together seamlessly can be challenging without professional-grade engineering.
By choosing our professionally crafted baseboards, you can avoid these common pitfalls and focus on enjoying your project rather than dealing with structural issues.
